Just 11 minutes ago, a 3.4-magnitude earthquake struck near Le Havre, Seine-Maritime, Normandy, France. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Monday, June 27th, 2022, at 5:55 pm local time, at a very shallow depth of 5 km below the surface.
The event was filed by France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.2.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Saint-Aubin-Routot (pop. 1,200) located 2 km from the epicenter, Saint-Romain-de-Colbosc (pop. 4,100) 4 km away, Montivilliers (pop. 16,700) 11 km away, Honfleur (pop. 8,100) 12 km away, and Bolbec (pop. 13,100) 13 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Lillebonne (pop. 9,800) located 15 km from the epicenter, Le Havre (pop. 186,000) 16 km away, and Fécamp (pop. 22,000) 28 km away. In Rouen (pop. 112,800, 56 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
