An earthquake of magnitude 3.1 occurred only 11 minutes ago 27 miles south of Hilo, Hawaii, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 3.5 miles beneath the epicenter near Hilo, Hawaii County, Hawaii, USA, early morning on Monday, July 4th, 2022, at 6:25 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.1 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.1.

In Hawaiian Paradise Park (pop. 11,400, 20 miles away), and Hilo (pop. 43,300, 27 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
