Moderate magnitude 4.5 quake hits 50 km east of Arica, Chile in the morning

An intermediate magnitude 4.5 earthquake was reported in the morning near Arica, Provincia de Arica, Region de Arica y Parinacota, Chile.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake hit on Saturday, July 30th, 2022, at 11:31 am local time at an intermediate depth of 90 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.5 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Arica (pop. 186,000) located 50 km from the epicenter, Las Lagunas (pop. 150) 67 km away, Los Palos (pop. 210) 70 km away, and Catana (pop. 880) 76 km away.
