3.0 quake 16 Aug 9:21 pm (GMT -7)
Just 9 minutes ago, a 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Coalinga, Fresno County, California, USA. The tremor was recorded in the evening on Tuesday, August 16th, 2022, at 9:21 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10.3 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.0 as well. A third agency, the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, reported the same quake at magnitude 3.0.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Three Rocks (pop. 250, 15 miles away), Coalinga (pop. 16,600, 27 miles away), Greenfield (pop. 17,200, 34 miles away), Soledad (pop. 25,000, 38 miles away), and Los Banos (pop. 37,500, 44 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
