An earthquake of magnitude 3.6 occurred only 7 minutes ago 6 miles southeast of Ontario, California, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 7 miles beneath the epicenter near Ontario, San Bernardino County, California, USA, in the morning on Saturday, September 3rd, 2022, at 10:04 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.1 earthquake.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Jurupa Valley (pop. 21,900) located 3 miles from the epicenter, Eastvale (pop. 59,000) 4 miles away, Ontario (pop. 171,200) 6 miles away, Rancho Cucamonga (pop. 175,200) 6 miles away, Upland (pop. 76,400) 7 miles away, Chino (pop. 85,600) 8 miles away, and Fontana (pop. 207,500) 8 miles away.

Oakwood and Palm Riverside CA 92506 (16 km ESE of epicenter) [Map] / Light shaking (MMI IV) / single vertical bump : There was a fairly loud bang and the whole house shook. It felt as if someone set off a bomb deep under ground. I got up pretty quickly to investigate so I couldn’t feel any shaking besides the jolt from the initial bang.
