The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 2.6 quake in Croatia near Zadar, 39 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022, at 6:50 am local time at a shallow depth of 13 km. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 2.6 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Crno (pop. 540) located 2 km from the epicenter, Zadar (pop. 71,300) 7 km away, and Polisseno (pop. 1,100) 7 km away. In Preko (pop. 1,300, 10 km away), Preko (pop. 3,900, 11 km away), Posedarje (pop. 1,300, 16 km away), Privlaka (pop. 2,300, 21 km away), Sv. Filipi i Jakov (pop. 1,600, 21 km away), and Biograd na Moru (pop. 5,300, 24 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
