Moderate 4.7 quake hits near Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia

4.7 quake 24 Mar 5:23 pm (GMT +8)

Just 13 minutes ago, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck near Maumere, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded in the afternoon on Wednesday 24 March 2021 at 5:23 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.7 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Maumere (pop. 47,600) located 112 km from the epicenter.
