Small 3.4 quake hits near Kodiak, Kodiak Island, Alaska, USA

The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.4 quake in the United States near Kodiak, Kodiak Island, Alaska, only 9 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the afternoon on Thursday 29 April 2021 at 5:15 pm local time at a shallow depth of 17 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.4 earthquake as well.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Aleneva (pop. 37, 39 miles away), and Kodiak (pop. 6,300, 51 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
