The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Rybnik, Silesia, Poland, in the morning on Wednesday 5 May 2021 at 9:44 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Syrynia (pop. 3,100) located 1 km from the epicenter.
