An earthquake of magnitude 3.3 occurred only 13 minutes ago 27 miles west of Fort Stockton, Texas, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported.

The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles beneath the epicenter near Fort Stockton, Pecos County, Texas, USA, in the morning on Monday 24 May 2021 at 10:02 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.3 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Coyanosa (pop. 160) located 26 miles from the epicenter. In Fort Stockton (pop. 8,600, 27 miles away), Pecos (pop. 9,500, 34 miles away), and Alpine (pop. 6,000, 45 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
