Small magnitude 3.5 quake hits 51 miles east of Nome, Alaska, United States early morning

The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.5 quake in the United States near Nome, Alaska, only 10 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Tuesday 25 May 2021 at 4:23 am local time at a shallow depth of 9.3 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.5 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include White Mountain (pop. 200) located 15 miles from the epicenter, Golovin (pop. 160) 19 miles away, and Solomon (pop. 12) 23 miles away. In Elim (pop. 340, 43 miles away), and Nome (pop. 3,800, 51 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
