Small tremor of magnitude 3.8 just reported 58 miles northeast of Eagle River, Alaska, United States

According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake hit on Wednesday 9 June 2021 at 5:05 am local time at a shallow depth of 13 miles. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.8 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Glacier View (pop. 230) located 22 miles from the epicenter, Palmer (pop. 6,800) 42 miles away, and Lakes (pop. 8,400) 48 miles away. In Tanaina (pop. 8,200, 53 miles away), Wasilla (pop. 9,300, 53 miles away), Knik-Fairview (pop. 14,900, 58 miles away), Eagle River (pop. 24,800, 58 miles away), and Eagle River (pop. 24,800, 58 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
