Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.9 just reported 30 km southwest of Konya, Turkey

4.9 quake Cyprus, 30 km west of Konya, Turkey, Nov 8, 2021 8:43 pm (GMT +3)
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the Kandilli Oservatory and Earthquake Research Institute in Istanbul (KOERI-RETMC) which listed the quake at magnitude 5.1. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the National Observatory of Athens (NOA) at magnitude 4.9, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 5.1.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Derbent (pop. 7,900) located 26 km from the epicenter, and Konya (pop. 875,500) 30 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Beyşehir (pop. 44,500) located 40 km from the epicenter, Kadınhanı (pop. 15,300) 48 km away, Seydişehir (pop. 51,100) 51 km away, Ilgın (pop. 27,400) 56 km away, Çumra (pop. 45,700) 61 km away, Şarkîkaraağaç (pop. 32,800) 75 km away, and Akşehir (pop. 64,400) 89 km away.
