Moderate 4.5 quake hits near Balayan, Batangas, Calabarzon, Philippines

Just 23 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Balayan, Batangas, Calabarzon, Philippines. The tremor was recorded early morning on Friday, August 5th, 2022, at 1:58 am local time, at an intermediate to considerable depth of 167 km below the surface.

The event was filed by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.3 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.3, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 4.3.
