Significant 5.0 quake hits near General Santos City, South Cotabato, Soccsksargen, Philippines

An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred only 14 minutes ago 50 km southwest of General Santos City, Philippines, Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 18 km beneath the epicenter near General Santos City, South Cotabato, Soccsksargen, Philippines, early morning on Tuesday 25 May 2021 at 3:46 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 5.1. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.8, and India's National Center for Seismology (NCS) at magnitude 5.1.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Malbang (pop. 2,400) located 20 km from the epicenter, and Glan (pop. 24,300) 23 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Malapatan (pop. 19,400) located 42 km from the epicenter, General Santos City (pop. 679,600) 50 km away, Alabel (pop. 43,300) 54 km away, Polomolok (pop. 64,000) 60 km away, Maluñgun (pop. 52,200) 71 km away, Surallah (pop. 31,100) 84 km away, Bañga (pop. 58,900) 88 km away, and Koronadal City (pop. 125,500) 94 km away.
