Magnitude 4.9 earthquake strikes near Mohr, Fars, Iran4.9 quake 41 km east of Mohr, Fars, Iran, 6 Jul 4:14 pm (GMT +4:30)
Just 12 minutes ago, a 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Mohr, Fars, Iran. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Tuesday 6 July 2021 at 3:44 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.9 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Mohr (pop. 35,000) located 41 km from the epicenter, and Gerāsh (pop. 25,300) 83 km away.
