Since yesterday, the activity at the El Hierro submarine volcano had been increasing, which could be seen on the harmonic tremor signal and the active jacuzzi above the vent on the ocean surface. The activity included strong bursts of harmonic tremor thought to be caused by hydromagmatic (magma-water) explosions. read all

The eruption south of El Hierro is continuing, but has calmed down during the past days. In contrast to one week ago, there has been little visible surface activity at the stained area above the submarine vent near La Rrestinga. Volcanic tremor is at low, but constant levels, and indicates that lava continues to be erupted at depth. ... read all
