Significant earthquake of magnitude 5.2 reported in the Northern Sumatra, Indonesia

A magnitude 5.2 earthquake 1 hour 11 minutes ago was reported by the BMKG agency, considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in Indonesia. The earthquake occurred at shallow depth of 10 km (6.2 mi) beneath the epicenter on 19 Oct 4:38 pm (GMT +7) local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change within the next hours as the agency continues to process the seismic data.
Our monitoring service at VolcanoDiscovery also identified a second report from the GeoAu agency which listed the quake at magnitude 5.2 as well. Other agencies reporting the same quake include USGS (magnitude 5.1), EMSC (magnitude 5.1).

The earthquake occurred at very shallow depth of 7.1 km (4.4 mi) beneath the epicenter.
