Light magnitude 4.2 quake hits 32 km northeast of Loreto, Philippines early afternoon

The quake hit at a moderately shallow depth of 39 km beneath the epicenter near Loreto, Dinagat Islands, Caraga, early afternoon on Wednesday 20 January 2021 at 2:53 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.2 earthquake as well.
