Moderate magnitude 4.6 quake hits 68 km southwest of Skopje, Macedonia late at night

Just 7 minutes ago, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Skopje, Macedonia. The tremor was recorded late at night on Friday 12 March 2021 at 10:17 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the National Observatory of Athens (NOA), which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.9.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.

In Mavrovi Anovi (pop. 910) located 4 km from the epicenter, Rostusa (pop. 9,100) 13 km away, and Gostivar (pop. 51,000) 20 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Vrapčište (pop. 8,700) located 22 km from the epicenter, Debar (pop. 18,100) 24 km away, Kicevo (pop. 31,100) 25 km away, Peshkopi (pop. 14,800) 26 km away, Centar Župa (pop. 45,400) 26 km away, and Skopje (pop. 474,900) 68 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Tirana (pop. 374,800) located 86 km from the epicenter, and Bitola (pop. 86,500) 87 km away.
