Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.9 just reported 118 km southeast of Sarangani, Philippines

4.9 quake 24 Apr 2:45 am (GMT +8)
According to Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the quake hit on Saturday 24 April 2021 at 2:45 am local time at a moderately shallow depth of 38 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) which listed the quake at magnitude 4.8. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 5.0.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Sarangani (pop. 7,500) located 118 km from the epicenter.
