Small 3.5 quake hits near Vienna, Austria

An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 occurred only 8 minutes ago 45 km south of Vienna, Austria, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 5 km beneath the epicenter near Vienna, Austria, in the morning on Saturday 24 April 2021 at 11:30 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
In Neudörfl (pop. 4,600) located 2 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Wiener Neustadt (pop. 44,800) located 5 km from the epicenter.
