Magnitude 3.0 earthquake strikes near Pecos, Reeves County, Texas, USA

An earthquake of magnitude 3.0 occurred only 17 minutes ago 25 miles southeast of Pecos, Texas, United States, the United States Geological Survey reported.
The quake hit at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles beneath the epicenter near Pecos, Reeves County, Texas, USA, in the afternoon on Saturday 31 July 2021 at 5:55 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.0 earthquake as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Coyanosa (pop. 160) located 11 miles from the epicenter. In Pecos (pop. 9,500, 25 miles away), Fort Stockton (pop. 8,600, 26 miles away), and Monahans (pop. 7,700, 36 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
