Moderate magnitude 4.5 quake hits 67 km west of Diego de Almagro, Chile late at night

A moderately shallow magnitude 4.5 earthquake was reported late at night near Diego de Almagro, Provincia de Chañaral, Atacama, Chile.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake hit on Wednesday, September 15th, 2021, at 10:10 pm local time at a moderately shallow depth of 37 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Diego de Almagro (pop. 18,100) located 67 km from the epicenter, and Taltal (pop. 10,000) 102 km away.
