Lamongan volcano (East Java, Indonesia): signs of unrest, alert raised to yellow due to increased seismic activity

Un nuevo volcán en Indonesia, Lamongan volcán en Java Oriental, está mostrando signos de malestar: vapor desde su cráter activo débil y el aumento de terremotos fueron reportadas por los científicos indonesios. El aumento de terremotos comenzados el 23 de febrero y sismicidad aumentó nuevamente significativamente el 8 de marzo cuando el temblor se registró continuamente al día siguiente.
CVGHM elevó el nivel de alerta 2 (en una escala de 1-4) el 9 de marzo. Los residentes y los turistas se les prohibió ir dentro de un radio de 1 km del cráter activo.
Lamongan es un volcán pequeño, relativamente desconocido al este del gran macizo Tengger (que contiene el famoso volcán Bromo). Fue muy activo en el siglo XIX cuando produjo varios flujos de lava, pero ha permanecido más o menos silencioso durante los últimos 110 años.
