Submarine eruption near Tonga: Pumice raft observed on 16 Nov, but origin volcano remains unknown

No está todavía claro que volcán produjo la balsa de piedra pómez observada al oeste sudoeste de Minerva Reef de Tonga (Pacífico) por un avión de la fuerza aérea real de Nueva Zelandia el 16 de noviembre.
Las balsas de piedra pómez fueron cintas de larga, 10 km de largo y decenas a cientos de metros de ancho de acuerdo a imágenes de satélite, probablemente como el resultado combinado de las olas del mar, vientos y corrientes. La zona es entre varios arcos volcánicos: Vanuatu al norte, arco de Tonga al este y el arco de Kermadec al sudeste. Geólogos de Nueva Zelanda no creo que es probable que vienen del volcán submarino Monowai, pero más bien creo que puede ser uno de los volcanes de Tonga.
