Just 6 minutes ago, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near Tuatapere, Southland District, Southland, New Zealand. The tremor was recorded early morning on Wednesday 30 December 2020 at 6:33 am local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 68.5 km below the surface.
The event was filed by New Zealand's Earthquake Commission and Geological Survey (GeoNet), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.1 earthquake.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Tuatapere (pop. 700) located 63 km from the epicenter, Manapouri (pop. 250) 71 km away, and Te Anau (pop. 2,100) 89 km away.

30 km of Invercargill, Southland (127.3 km SE of epicenter) [Map] / Moderate shaking (MMI V) / 1-2 s : Felt a quick shake that rattled and moved my mirrors on my duchess. Shaking took a while to subside. I live in Bluff, Southland NZ.  
Oban Stewart Island (134.4 km SE of epicenter) [Map] / Weak shaking (MMI III) : Was already awake in bed when felt gentle shaking but recognised it as an earthquake probably about 10 sec duration.  
Kingston , Queenstown / Very weak shaking (MMI II) : It felt like a tremor  
Invercargill / Very weak shaking (MMI II) : Invercargill
