Magnitude 3.0 earthquake strikes near Polkowice, Polkowice County, Lower Silesia, Poland

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 3.0 quake in Poland near Polkowice, Polkowice County, Lower Silesia, only 18 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Monday, September 13th, 2021, at 2:15 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.0 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Polkowice (pop. 21,600) located 3 km from the epicenter, Głogow (pop. 68,500) 15 km away, Chocianow (pop. 8,200) 17 km away, and Lubin (pop. 77,500) 17 km away. In Legnica (pop. 106,000, 36 km away), Nowa Sol (pop. 40,400, 39 km away), Bolesławiec (pop. 40,700, 45 km away), and Leszno (pop. 63,600, 50 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
