Magnitude 3.9 earthquake strikes near Saint George, Aleutians West, Alaska, USA

A moderately shallow magnitude 3.9 earthquake was reported early morning near Saint George, Aleutians West, Alaska, USA.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake hit on Monday, July 4th, 2022, at 1:39 am local time at a moderately shallow depth of 23 miles. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 3.9 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.9.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Saint George (pop. 100) located 8 miles from the epicenter, and Saint Paul (pop. 480) 47 miles away.
