Moderate magnitude 4.7 quake hits 67 km northwest of Cintalapa de Figueroa, Mexico early morning

4.7 quake 11 Aug 4:54 am (GMT -5)
4.7 quake 11 Aug 4:54 am (GMT -5)
An intermediate magnitude 4.7 earthquake was reported early morning near Cintalapa de Figueroa, Cintalapa, Chiapas, Mexico.
According to Mexico's National Seismological Service (SSN), the quake hit on Thursday, August 11th, 2022, at 4:54 am local time at an intermediate depth of 143 km. The strength of the earthquake may have been tempered by its relative great depth below the surface, which makes it feel weaker in absolute terms. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.7 as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.7.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include San Francisco la Paz (pop. 630) located 13 km from the epicenter, Poblado 10 (pop. 3,300) 36 km away, Santo Domingo Zanatepec (pop. 7,200) 62 km away, Cintalapa de Figueroa (pop. 42,500) 67 km away, Matias Romero Avendaño (pop. 18,900) 88 km away, Arriaga (pop. 24,400) 95 km away, Ocozocoautla de Espinosa (pop. 39,200) 96 km away, and Las Choapas (pop. 42,700) 99 km away.
