5.0 quake Tajikistan-Xinjiang Border Region 30 Jul 4:09 am (GMT +5)
According to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the quake hit on Friday 30 July 2021 at 4:09 am local time at an intermediate depth of 83 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 5.0 as well.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Murghab (pop. 10,800) located 101 km from the epicenter.
