Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.5 just reported 55 km southwest of Managua, Nicaragua

Just 15 minutes ago, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake struck near Managua, Departamento de Managua, Nicaragua. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Saturday, September 24th, 2022, at 8:39 am local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 59 km below the surface.

The event was filed by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.5 earthquake as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Villa El Carmen (pop. 5,200) located 24 km from the epicenter.
