Etna volcano (Sicily, Italy): strong strombolian activity continues

The activity of the volcano continues at elevated levels due to ongoing strong strombolian activity from the New SE crater.

On 7 October at 06:35 local time INGV recorded strong strombolian eruption associated with scoria ejected from the crater and an ash plume that reached 15,000 ft (4,600 m) altitude. Volcanic ash is dispersed towards the east-southeast and causes moderate ash fall on the volcano's slopes.
A tremor has not shown significant variations.
The Aviation Color Code was raised to Red.
