Incandescence and active surface flows were seen at the base of the pali fault. Several earthquakes were located beneath the south of the caldera and along the S-flank fault. Beneath Halema'uma'u crater earthquakes ranged from 20 to 40, but could not be located. The vent in Halema'uma'u crater continued to produce a white plume and drifted mainly SW depositing small amounts of tephra. Night-time incandescence was seen at the base of a plume. Sounds resembling distant surf and rockfalls were reported in the vicinity of the crater. The sulfur dioxide emission rate was 800-1200 t per day on 14 and 17 November.
