The remote Batu Tara volcano continues to produce sometimes several ash plumes per day. Most of them are rising to 7000 ft (2 km) as observed by satellite and reported by VAAC Darwin.

Ash explosions generating plumes to typically about 2 km altitude occur almost every day. The VAAC Darwin reported a 7000 ft (ca. 2 km) high ash cloud from Batu Tara, Indonesia, both today and yesterday.

Darwin VAAC reported that during 25-26 April ash plumes from Batu Tara rose to an altitude of 2.4 km (8,000 ft) a.s.l. and drifted 37 km W and SW. During 30 April-1 May ash plumes again rose to an altitude of 2.4 km (8,000 ft) a.s.l. then drifted 37-55 km NW.

Comme notre collègue Marc annonce sur vulkane.net, le volcan Batu Tara dans la Mer de la Sonde sur l'île de Flores en Indonésie a eu aujourd'hui une éruption de cendre plus grande que d'habitude, qui a déclenché une alerte du VAAC de Darwin, qui a élevé le code de couleurs de l'aviation "à l'orange", car le nuage de cendre dérivant est peut être un danger pour la navigation aérienne locale. Le Batu Tara est l'un des volcans les plus actifs en Indonésie et il est caractérisé, semblable au volcan Stromboli, par une activité explosive semi-permanente à son sommet. ...plus
