M7.6 earthquake on Friday, 31 August 2012 at 12:47 (93 km E of Sulangan, Philippines)

Earthquake kills one person, injured another, damages many houses
Due to its distance from the coast, the quake, which had a great destructive potential, caused much less damage than had it occurred nearer to or beneath land, fortunately:
In total, only one person was confirmed killed and two injured as a house in the southern city of Cagayan de Oro, Mindanao, got caught by a landslide along with several other homes.
77 homes were reported to have suffered damage in General MacArthur, Eastern Samar, and 6 houses in Barangay Casoroy, San Julian. A wall from an old building collapsed in Butuan City.
Although the tsunami warning had been called off, close investigations revealed that a very small tsunami had indeed occurred. A small 3 cm (1.2 in) wave was recorded at Legazpi in Albay province and shortly after also further south near Davao City. Slight sea level anomalies were observed in several other locations.

Tectonic characteristics of this quake:
The quake was rather unusual in its mechanism as it was the result of reverse faulting, caused by extensional stress, in the interior of the Philippine Sea plate and not as most quakes in the region, as result of compression between the Philippine Sea plate colliding with and subducting under the Sunda plate (on which the Philippines sit). The hypocenter of the quake was 50 kilometers to the east of the plate boundary within the shallow oceanic lithosphere of the Philippine Sea Plate.
No tsunami

Data for the same earthquake reported by different agencies

Info: The more agencies report about the same quake and post similar data, the more confidence you can have in the data. It takes normally up to a few hours until earthquake parameters are calculated with near-optimum precision.
