Paraparaumu (77.6 km WSW of epicenter) [Map] / Moderate shaking (MMI V) : Short sharp jolt, followed by shaking and everything rattling about, then rolling and rocking for what felt like ages.
wellington / Moderate shaking (MMI V)
Kopuaranga (27 km SW of epicenter) [Map] / Very strong shaking (MMI VII) : Started off as moderate and built up to very strong and seemed to last quite a while. I was just glad I wasn't on the scaffold at the time as it did quite a dance.
Big Save Furniture Palmerston North / Strong shaking (MMI VI) : The shop started shaking with a large jolt, people were unbalanced, 6 seconds later a huge BANG with a massive jolt, some people fell over, some dived under tables and doorways, VERY violent shaking, lots of smashing as vases, lamps etc fell off shelves ..Store was evacuated . SCARY
Blenheim, NZ , South Island / Very weak shaking (MMI II) : We were relaxing in our van at this time. In one moment our van began to swing a little bit.
Rongotea Manawatu / Moderate shaking (MMI V) : A few small ornaments fell off shelves and some things fell out of the pantry and the power went off for a short period. I was outside you could see power poles moving animals seemed alarmed

willis street wellington (116 km SW of epicenter) [Map] / Moderate shaking (MMI V) : My home started shaking and the ceramic ware making good noise, most of the people in my apartment building came out to the ground floor and started checking on the internet on phone as to what was the size of this shake.

(New Zealand, 81 km W of epicenter) : The building was swaying back and forth it was kind of an odd thing, makes your realize that the ground is not as solid as you might think. We are from Canada living in Wellington beside the Beehive. (reported through EMSC)
Paraparaumu (New Zealand, 72 km SW of epicenter) : Went to local work afterwards, a supermarket to help with clean up which I knew there would be. Liqour bottles were smashed on the ground everywhere, as well as items thrown off every isle and multiple things broken. Roof panels in certain places broke/fell off. (reported through EMSC)

Foxton Beach (New Zealand, 51 km W of epicenter) : seemed to go on forever, our dog wasn't upset but the pidgeons all 8 of them flew away. (reported through EMSC)
Masterton (New Zealand, 37 km S of epicenter) : Felt an initial short jolts combined with a roll followed by series of rolling motions, wave like . Direction seemed to come from west. Picture flipped from eastern shelf onto lounge floor. (reported through EMSC)
