The earthquake continued gaining power for 30-60 seconds, before slowing and stopping altogether. As a result, one framed picture fell down, but otherwise there was nothing out of place in my house.

Wasilla / Strong shaking (MMI VI) : Woke everyone in the apartment. Dogs scared, baby crying. Knocked 2 plastic thermoses off of fridge. Pictures fell over, coffee mug almost fell out of cabinet, filing cabinet drawers opened, fish tank water sloshing, hanging light fixtures swaying.. No damage, thankfully nothing broken.

Sterling, Alaska (274.7 km NE of epicenter) [Map] / Strong shaking (MMI VI) : Felt it in Sterling. A lamp broke and a few small items fell off the shelf and from the top of the refrigerator. Some areas don't have power, but I have power.
East of homer / Strong shaking (MMI VI) : Strong shaking woke family. About 60 to 90 seconds long. Got stronger as it went, big jolt and it strengthened shaking about 30 seconds into it. Pictures fell, most things fell from shelves, drawers rolled open and closed, dog cowered, kids cried and we all evacuated to street. Windows popping and flexing! Mild at first for about a minute, I decided to pause my game and try to secure the TV just before it got more intense, it shook like that for about 2-3 min, then started to subside, we where still feeling shaking up to 5 mins later, but very mild like 1-2 magnitudeish.

Anchorage 99515 / Moderate shaking (MMI V) : I've experienced quakes in Puerto Rico, CA., and NY, but this was the scariest...it lasted a long time, the apt. building was swaying, blinds, hanging lamps, the stuff in cabinets moving around. I've been here for almost a year, and have felt around 6 quakes to date. Considering moving back to lower 48...no sense in living in fear.
Diamond Ridge, Homer (105.5 km E of epicenter) [Map] / Moderate shaking (MMI V) : I was running around the house giggling in my underwear while my wife and two kids were taking cover under the bed and my mother was standing in her doorway laughing. One hurricane lantern fell of the shelf. It lasted a while and was pretty strong. The metal roof sounded like it was rippling.

Homer / Strong shaking (MMI VI) : Strong shake at 1:45 AM near homer Alaska. Woke us abruptly from bed, hard and loud shaking caused two story wooden house to lunge move and flex. Most things fell from shelves, drawers and cabinets opened, pared and books came off desk and counters. We all ran quickly from house in pajamas and stood outside in cold for about 15 minutes in fear of aftershock. No aftershock felt in the first hour, yet. Children very scared! Water sloshed half way out of fish tank all over dresser! Quite scary

SW Anchorage / Strong shaking (MMI VI) : Rolling built for 30 seconds, then a slam and hard shaking for 30 seconds, then heavy but decreasing waves about another 30 seconds. Felt like an hour. Shook a few things off shelves, set off a neighbor's car alarm. During the heaviest shaking, violent swaying of all suspended things in the house.

Soldotna (190.2 km NE of epicenter) [Map] / Moderate shaking (MMI V) : Woke us up with a good "Magic Fingers" massage and lots of creaking throughout the house. Chandeliers swinging wildly and a few items fell off of the banging book cases. The intensity of the shaking subsided after about 30 seconds but the wavy wiggling lasted for more than a minute.

Clam Gulch AK (263 km NE of epicenter) [Map] / Strong shaking (MMI VI) : Had just gone to bed, thought the cat jumped on bed, then VERY STRONG shaking, heard things falling. Turned my computer monitor over, lasted a long time.
Homer AK / Light shaking (MMI IV) : It woke me up- I thought it was a large truck rumbling by but then the shaking intensified. It seemed to last for more than a minute. I stayed in bed and held on as the whole house swayed and shudders. Items and walls on the counter rattled and wall hangings seriously shifted. The ceiling fan didn't stop swinging for at least 10 minutes.

Even woke up my teenagers that usually sleep through a fire alarm! Pictures falling off the walls and bookshelves. Furniture shaking. Scary!

4 miles south of Wasilla, AK (298.9 km NE of epicenter) [Map] / Very strong shaking (MMI VII) : We had no visible damage in our home, but the house did an attention getting waltz, and it did a lot of creaking. So far we haven't discovered anything that fell from our shelves.

I experienced the 1994 Northridge earthquake and this felt similar but looking back at the records this one was much longer.

But as I was stting in the living room and it intensified, I could see the square frame of the house bend and twist. I grabbed my pup and we went to the closest door. Lasted about 30 seconds of hard shaking. Some items fell off shelves, light furniture rocked and moved, Windows and doors rocked.

Kenai / Very strong shaking (MMI VII) : We had items fall from shelves, drawers open etc. we are building next door and large piles of plaster board fell over as well as French doors that were leaned against a wall. No major damage was found. Moving from the bed to the door way was tricky.
