Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported a magnitude 4.8 quake in Papua New Guinea near Ambunti, Ambunti-Dreikikir, East Sepik Province, only 13 minutes ago. The earthquake hit after midnight on Monday 15 February 2021 at 12:53 am local time at an intermediate depth of 118 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.8 earthquake as well.
