A shallow magnitude 4.6 earthquake was reported in the morning near Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Zihuatanejo de Azueta, Guerrero, Mexico.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake hit on Sunday 14 February 2021 at 11:51 am local time at a shallow depth of 12 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.

La Puerta Ixtapa / Light shaking (MMI IV) / rattling, vibrating / 2-5 s : Startling vibrations throughout the house, rattling objects subtly. My stomach dropped as it was happening. | 9 users found this interesting.
25.5 km SW of epicenter [Map] / Moderate shaking (MMI V) / vibration and rolling / 5-10 s : It sounded like a loaded dump truck was driving too close to the back of the house, which got my attention. I listened to it for a couple of seconds before noticing things were vibrating, and then the house jumped sideways and the rumble tapered off 2-3 seconds after that.
