New hiking tour on Etna (7 days)

Etna - keeping us busy with eruptions at the moment - is worth an own tour in iteself. We have now developed a new exciting program to get to know this wonderful mountain in a series of moderate to challenging hikes, including a full traverse of the mountain. A first group departure is set for 2-8 November.

Etna volcano (Italy), eruption update: decreasing activity

Lava and ash emissions continue although at very low levels. The violent fissure eruption that started on May 13 from an originally 600 m long east-trending fissure parting from the NE base of the SE crater at around 2900 m elevation decreased surprisingly quickly in intensity. INGV-CT reported continuous ash emission and periodic Strombolian activity from multiple vents, possibly along an E-trending fissure E of Etna's summit craters, during 10-19 May. Style éruptif tipique
Effusive (lava flows) and mildly explosive (strombolian) eruptions. Both summit and frequent flank eruptions, the latter seem to be occurring in clusters lasting few to a few tens of years.
