Steaming Kizimen volcano this morning
Activity has picked up at the volcano again. An ash plume was reported this morning by VAAC Tokyo to 17,000 ft (5 km) altitude extending north. Webcam images show a significant steam plume which possibly contains ash. Read more...

Activity has been low recently. It appears that the growth of the summit lava dome has paused or stopped. KVERT now keeps the volcano on level "green".
Tue, 15 Oct 2013, 12:39
VAAC Tokyo reported an ash plume drifting at 13,000 ft (4 km) altitude from the volcano this morning at 05:28 UTC. Webcam images show a sustained steam-gas plume that might contain some ash. Glow from the summit lava dome can be seen on night-time images, indicating that lava extrusion continues: Read more...

Kizimen volcano this morning (KVERT webcam)
Activity (extrusion of lava at the summit) continues, but has decreased recently, as incandescent rockfalls have become more rare. Seismic activity remains "moderate" (KVERT) and strong degassing can be seen. About a week ago, the prominent spine at the summit dome collapsed.
Fri, 6 Sep 2013, 13:00
The volcano continues to extrude a viscous lava flow from the summit vent, producing hot avalanches on the western and eastern flanks and strong degassing. KVERT reports moderate seismic activity.
Tue, 3 Sep 2013, 09:29
No significant changes have occurred. The lava dome at the summit continues to grow and produce occasional small to moderate glowing avalanches. KVERT reports moderate seismic activity.

Glowing rock avalanche from Kizimen last night
The lava dome continues to grow at the top of the volcano and produce incandescent rockfalls and small pyroclastic flows, generating ash plumes. A new prominent spine is being extruded at the top and visible on the webcam. The following time-lapse movies show this activity during the day and night: Read more... lire toutes

Multilope pyroclastic flows (block and ash flows) yesterday morning at Kizimen (annotation by Culture Volcan)
A rock spine that had been growing at the summit of the active lava dome has collapsed, producing pyroclastic flows and an ash plume rising to 20,000 ft (6 km) altitude. Read more... lire toutes
