Anak Krakatau can be faintly seen with an ash plume in the upper right part of the webcam image (40 km away) of the observatory this morning
Anak Krakatau can be faintly seen with an ash plume in the upper right part of the webcam image (40 km away) of the observatory this morning
Clearer views of the volcano today both on webcam and a satellite image from 6 Nov confirm that the volcano is currently indeed producing mild strombolian activity at rather short intervals.
Small, but dense ash plumes can be seen drifting from the summit of Krakatau where also a strong thermal anomaly indicates the presence of lava.
The seismic station also records numerous explosion events, as can be seen on the observatory's seismicity histogram ("letusan"=eruption events in yellow).
