Marapi volcano (Sumatra, Indonesia): new eruption

Marapi volcano had a modest eruption this evening (26 Sep) between 16:30-18:15 h local time. (Note Mapari is in Sumatra and different from frequently active M-E-rapi volcano near Yogyakarta in Central Java).
The eruption, probably the largest in this year so far, produced an ash column rising 1.5-2 km above the crater and was accompanied by load roaring noises, local media reported.
Increased activity had been noticed since 3 August. A 3 km exclusion zone was placed around the volcano and hikers are advised not to climb to the summit... PVMBG has not changed the alert status of the volcano (yet).
