Batu Tara volcano Nov 2014: pyroclastic flow

A pyroclastic flow occurred early on 4 Nov (local time): at around 2 am local time, a powerful explosion was immediately followed by a short lava-rich, fountain-like explosion that initiated a large incandescent avalanche over the whole width of the sciara, causing also some parts of the upper dome to collapse.
The avalanche turned into a small pyroclastic flow that reached the shore of the sciara and continued above water for approx. 100 m.
Andi and Till managed to capture the event on camera:

02:01 local time: a minute later, the flow has already descended the sciara and traveled approx. 100-200 m above the sea, leaving a large dark ash plume rising above it and a glowing delta, which remained hot until the next morning. (Photo: Andi / VolcanoDiscovery Indonesia)
