Evolution of tremor amplitude at Raung volcano (VSI)
A few days ago, the official alert level of the volcano has been lowered to 2 (out of 4). It seems that no, or almost no eruptive activity has taken place at the volcano over the past days. ...plus

With a small group we climbed Raung
during 14-15 August 2015. We might have witnessed the end of the large 2015 summit eruption, which during June-early August produced large lava flows, lava fountains and significant ash plumes.

Raung's summit caldera on 14 Aug 2015
Activity has strongly decreased at the volcano. When we visited Raung during 14-15 August, we observed pulsating, often near-continous ash emissions that produced plumes of several hundred meters. They often consisted of dark jets of ash, presumably from phreatomagmatic activity inside the conduit. ...plus

Small ash emissions continue. This morning, a plume of ash approx. 500 m high drifted 15 km to the west of the volcano.

Heat signal from Raung volcano (MIROVA)
Activity has decreased at the volcano. During the past days, the ash plume was much lower and only extended several tens of kilometers in southerly directions. ...plus

Ash plume from Raung this morning (photo: L.K.Adam / Twitter)
Intense ash emissions continue to produce a plume that stretches hundreds of kilometers to the SW. Many flights to and from Bali were canceled or delayed today again. ...plus

Raung's ash plume yesterday (NASA satellite image)
Intense ash emissions and northwesterly winds have repeatedly forced to close Bali's Denpasar International Airport (DPS) during the past days, resulting in many flight cancellations. ...plus

Landsat 8 satellite image of Raung on 27 July. A gray patch left of a forest fire is visible on the NE flank.
The eruption at the volcano remains very intense and might have increased during the past days. ...plus

Heat signal from Raung volcano during the past year (MIROVA)
The eruption continues. Ash emissions have decreased, while satellite-detected heat emission increased during the past days. This could suggest that activity is now more effusive (lava flows) than explosive (ash emissions) in style. ...plus

Volcano Tours on Hawai'i
: The Hawaiian Islands are not only home to the most active volcanoes in the world, Kilauea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island, but also boast a unique natural environment. Born by volcanic activity of a very active hot spot in the middle of the Pacific Plate, they are a showcase of natural history.
Colima volcano photos
: This beautiful stratovolcano in western Mexico is one of the most active volcanoes on the American continents. It is known for its often spectacular explosions and sometimes glowing avalanches.
