Nouvelles et actualités: Santiaguito (Santa Maria, Guatemala)

Santa María / Santiaguito volcano (Guatemala) activity update

mercredi janv. 22, 2014 07:52 | AUTEUR : T

Volcanic activity from the active dome remains more or less unchanged both explosive and effusive. The volcano observatory reports small explosions (on average 1-2 per hour), significant degassing, and weak to moderate block avalanches at the active viscous flows on the sides of the Caliente lava dome.
Actualités précédentes
vendredi, janv. 17, 2014
The effusion of blocky lava from the deom has become weaker, evidenced by some avalanches from the southern and southeastern rims. Explosive activity seems in turn to be picking up. On average 2-3 explosions per hour are seen from the Caliente lava dome with ash plumes rising up to 800 m and often causing light ash fall in areas to the southwest. [details]
Santiaguito volcano this morning (INSIVUMEH webcam)
mercredi, janv. 15, 2014
A moderate explosion occurred this morning at 06:18 local time, forming a grayish ash column 700 m high, moving southeast causing light ashfall on the Santa Maria volcano and in Villa San José. The main activity remains effusion of blocky lava mainly from the SE and SW rims of the Caliente dome, where constants weak to moderate avalanches detach from the flows. [details]
lundi, janv. 13, 2014
The volcano's activity has remained essentially unchanged. Small explosions, intense degassing and viscous lava extrusion, especially on the NE side of the Caliente dome were reported this morning. [details]
The lava dome of Santiaguito this morning
jeudi, janv. 09, 2014
Activity remains essentially unchanged. Small to moderate explosions are occurring at rates of 1-3 per hour, producing ash plumes that typically rise 300-600 m. Extrusion of viscous lava feeds several active block lava flows on the upper slopes of the Caliente dome. Their activity can be seen as near-constant avalanches. [details]
Small rock avalanche from the Caliente lava dome
dimanche, janv. 05, 2014
The volcano observatory reports no changes in activity: abundant degassing, weak to moderate explosions with ash plumes rising 500-700 m and constant block avalanches from the lava flows on the east and SW flanks of the dome. [details]
