Magnitude 4.6 earthquake strikes near Split, Croatia

Just 32 minutes ago, a 4.6-magnitude earthquake struck near the town of Gospić, Croatia. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Sunday 1 November 2020 at 2.15 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by the German Research Centre for Geosciences in Potsdam (GFZ), the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) agency, which listed it as a magnitude 4.8 earthquake. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.7.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows etc.
Towns or cities near the epicenter that are likely to be affected include Gospić (pop. 6,100) at a distance of 23 km with light shaking, Zadar (pop. 71,300) at a distance of 34 km with light shaking, Bihać (pop. 75,600) at a distance of 58 km with weak shaking, and Split (pop. 176,300) at a distance of 120 km with weak shaking.

Maslenica / Moderate shaking (MMI V) : Ich fand es beängstigend, da ich noch kein Erdbeben mitbekommen habe. Das ganze Haus hat gewackelt und die Schranktüren gingen auf. Bei den Nachbarn sind Tassen und Gläser vom Schrank gefallen.
