Significant earthquake of magnitude 5.9 just reported 26 km southeast of Rasht, Tajikistan

An earthquake of magnitude 5.9 occurred in the morning on Saturday 10 July 2021 at 7:14 am local time near Rasht, Republican Subordination, Tajikistan, as reported by the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 10 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 5.8 earthquake.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should have been widely felt by almost everyone in the area of the epicenter. It might have caused light to moderate damage.
Moderate shaking probably occurred in Rasht (pop. 10,800) located 26 km from the epicenter.
In Novobod (pop. 5,400) located 41 km from the epicenter, Roghun (pop. 7,700) 64 km away, Obigarm (pop. 10,000) 79 km away, and Leningrad (pop. 12,000) 99 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Kŭlob (pop. 78,800) located 129 km from the epicenter.
