Magnitude 4.7 earthquake strikes near Tandag, Surigao del Sur, Caraga, Philippines4.7 quake 25 Jun 5:18 am (GMT +8)
A magnitude 4.7 earthquake near Tandag, Surigao del Sur, Caraga, Philippines, was reported 33 minutes ago by the United States Geological Survey, considered one of the key international agencies that monitor seismic activity worldwide. The earthquake occurred at a moderately shallow depth of 61.9 km beneath the epicenter early morning on Saturday, June 25th, 2022, at 5:18 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.

Other agencies reporting the same quake include the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.7, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.9, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 4.7.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Arrasasan (pop. 5,100) located 31 km from the epicenter, Marihatag (pop. 3,800) 36 km away, Tago (pop. 6,300) 38 km away, and Tandag (pop. 29,000) 43 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Lianga (pop. 13,600) located 65 km from the epicenter, Bah-Bah (pop. 28,600) 83 km away, San Francisco (pop. 18,500) 84 km away, Bislig City (pop. 67,600) 89 km away, and Bayugan (pop. 40,600) 92 km away.
